Every OpenHands project begins with a study of the space — its proportions, its existing materials, and the life that happens inside it. Paul's home told us two things immediately.
Warm honey oak timber and black wrought iron balusters. The feature wall must honour these existing materials — not compete with them. Every element we specify is chosen in relation to what already exists in Paul's home.
At 18ft, this wall cannot be timid. Both designs use the full height to create a moment that stops you when you walk into the room — grand without being cold, designed without being sterile.
The 100" TV at 44 inches centre height, the floating console, flanking plants, and white orchids — these bring the wall down to the human scale and make it liveable, not just impressive.
The warm material story — designed to complement Paul's staircase and honour the existing character of his home.
A luxury statement wall designed to speak the same language as Paul's existing interior — warm honey oak, warm gold tones, and the quiet authority of natural stone rising the full 18ft.
Design ThinkingHoney oak slat panels mirror the staircase timber. Warm brass pendants echo the iron balusters. Tall sculptural plants in ceramic pots flank the wall, reinforcing the organic warmth on both sides.
The Desert Silk marble panel rises the full 18ft without interruption. Natural stone veining creates a living, changing surface as light shifts across the day — no two moments are the same.
White orchids in slim ceramic vases sit at each end of the floating console. Amber LED strips at the inner slat edges frame the marble. Every detail is intentional — nothing is decoration for its own sake.

24"×48" slabs, warm beige and gold veining. Full 18ft height, book-matched. Installed over cement board backer. Already sourced at Balance Flooring, Halton Region.
5ft wide each side, floor to ceiling. Tone-matched to Paul's staircase timber exactly. Mirrored symmetrically for perfect balance.
Warm amber glow at inner edges of both slat panels. Dimmable. Frames the marble and highlights the full 18ft vertical drama.
9ft wide, matching marble panel exactly. Four openable smoked glass sections. Warm oak top surface. Floats 6 inches from floor with visible gap.
Tall sculptural plants in luxury ceramic pots on both sides of the wall. White orchids in slim ceramic vases at each end of the floating console — organic warmth at human scale.
TV centre at 44" from floor — correct seated eye level. Two slim brass pendants at inner junctions echo the staircase iron balusters.
The tactile story — warmth, texture, and a deliberate nod to Paul's classic interior through material and precision detail.
Where Design A leads with stone, Design B leads with texture. The fabric panel grid creates a refined, acoustic warmth across the full 18ft double height — quieter in material, bolder in surface character.
Design ThinkingThe honey oak slat panels match Paul's staircase directly. The thin black aluminium reveal joints between each fabric square echo the wrought iron balusters — a precise material reference, not a coincidence. Flanking plants mirror the design on both sides.
Fabric panels introduce acoustic warmth and tactile depth that stone and paint cannot achieve. The room literally feels and sounds warmer. The 24"×24" grid pattern creates visual rhythm across the full 18ft height.
The LED cove above the centre section casts a diffused warm wash across the fabric. White orchids on the console introduce a natural, refined element that softens the structured grid — considered, not curated.
